Tom O’Shaughnessy

Dance Faculty: Tap

Tom O’Shaughnessy is a New Jersey Native who started tap dancing at the age of 3
and began to compete by the age of 5. Tom started his career as a teacher and choreographer
at the age of 16.

Tom trained extensively at Woodbridge School of Dance and continued training at New
Jersey Tap Ensemble, training under Maurice Chestnut and Karen Calloway.

Tom began his professional tap dance career with Deborah Mitchell of the Rhythm
Queens. Tom joined Deborah Mitchell’s New Jersey Tap Ensemble as a first company dancer
and has continued to perform with the company since.

Tom Went on to choreograph and dance as a soloist for Barbara Vari’s Soliun Cotiere.
Tom has danced in and choreographed pieces performed in the Wilkins Theatre, Hamilton
Theatre, The Maplewood Great Hall, Princeton University’s famous Richardson Auditorium and many more.
